《校内用词汇编》於一九八九年编印初版,目的为方便校内各部门在使用校内中文词汇时有所依据,避免部分
词汇因翻译准则不同而出现数个不同名称之混乱情况,其作用纯属参考性质.编印之时,部分词汇或已有三两
个曾采用之中文名称,编汇时选其通用者作准.本刊由创版至今,一直得到校内同寅殷切指正及提点,谨此致
谢.
由於本校行政及教务工作发展迅速,并配合资讯科技发展,本处於二零零零年起将资料存於本校网页
http://www.hku.hk/eroesite/html/st_term/index_stterm.htm,方便各界查阅,并会定期更改,务求尽快将最新资
料提供读者参考.本处并欢迎各部门提供适用词汇,以便列入本刊供用者参考,或将有关词汇名称加以统一使
用.至於各部门因应本身情况或改组等需要而将名称相应更改,亦请利用书後之通讯栏及早通知,以便本刊能
尽快将新名称列出.

使用说明
本《汇编》按词汇之性质区分,共编成十三章;除首章第一部分外,各章之词汇均按其英文字母先後次序排列.
第一章为教职员编制,除在大学条例中所指定之主要行政人员列於第一部分外,所有教研人员及其他工作人员
均按英文名称之次序排列於第二部分,分等级之职位均一一列出,查检时应以该职位全名之首字翻查,如助理
教授Assistant Professor 一词,应按 Assistant 之 A 查检,而非查 Professor 之 P.然同一职位中之一,
二,三等级,由於职位名称未有更改,故不另列.第三部分则为不涉及日常职务之名誉成员称衔.
第二章为大学规程下之学院及学系,该章之编排是按学院胪列院内学系,此举方便查阅者了解每一学院之学系
数目及名称.至於隶属学院之非学系教学单位以及其他与教学及研究工作有关之部门及由校外资助成立之独立
教研单位,均列於第三章「其他部门」内,如图书馆,实验动物中心等.行政部门则另列於第四章,如物业处,
外务处.
第五章为现时由大学颁授之各类学位,文凭及证书,分学士学位,硕士或博士学位,文凭及证书四项,翻查时
先检出名称所属项目,再按字母次序查考,例如 Master of Education ,应翻查「 Higher degree 硕士或博士
学位」一栏.
第六章「房舍,堂舍及道路」,这部分采用综合编排方式,不分类别,部分词汇後列出之斜体缩写 '',
用以表示所属建筑物,例如∶Kong Siu Luey Hall ,表示江筱吕纪念堂在柏立基学院内.所有缩写之全
称均列於第六章末段,以便查考.
第七章为校内委员会及有关组织名称,翻查时应以委员会所担任之工作及其所属部门或组织为主线,如人事方
面应查 Personnel Matters, Committee on;舍堂委员会应为 Halls, Committee on,而不以 Committee 为首.
除了部分早有缩写的委员会须按其名称顺序编排外(如 JCSF),其他委员会均按此法查检.
第八至十一章均按字母排列,每章不另分类,为方便读者明了部分词汇含义,特在旁加上注号,并於章末加以
解释.
第十二章为校内行政部门定期出版之刊物,除部分为校内用书外,其馀均欢迎索阅.
第十三章选列部分常用之本港大专教育管理 / 资助组织及与本校教研工作及交流活动有关之词汇,由於数目有
限,不作特殊区分.
又本刊内凡带 # 符号之词汇均属暂定性质,有待相关委员会,校务委员会及校董会於该年年底会议正式审批
作实,敬请各读者留意.
